Agnes Britton

Ms Agnes fell this morning when she went to get the paper. Her neighbor helped her. Branson took her to the hopsital to get checked out. She had a broken hip, so they did surgery and placed a pin in her hip. She is in ECM room 256. Please remember her in your prayers.

Phil's Dad

Got this note from Shana today:
Just an update on Mr. Keenon. The nurses at dialysis had to call an ambulance for him yesterday. He was in severe pain, and his legs went numb. He has been admitted to H'ville hospital and is scheduled for back surgery on Tues., if they think he is stable enough. This is going to be pretty high risk due to all of his other problems, so please keep him in your prayers.

Evelyn

Evelyn will be staying at our house until Monday, Oct 26. She has had a few bad days lately. She has been very weak. Today she had a good day. I stayed home from school with her, along with Curtis. I think Curtis being here cheered her up quite a bit. She doesn't go back to the doctor until November. She would love to come to Church, but the doctor told her not to be around a lot of people, her immune system is weak. Please remember to pray for her.

Anyway

(This poem was written by Kent Keith in 1968)

ANYWAY
People are unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered.
Love them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish ulterior motives.
Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some false friends and true enemies.
Succeed anyway.

The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow.
Be good anyway.

Honesty and frankness will make you vulnerable.
Be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight.
Build anyway.

People need help but will attack you if you help them.
Help them anyway.

In the final analysis, it is between you and God.
It was never between you and them anyway

[The apostle Paul appears to express the sentiment of that final line when he states: "But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged by you or by a human court. In fact, I do not even judge myself. For I know of nothing against myself, yet I am not justified by this; but He who judges me is the Lord." -- 1 Corinthians 4:3-4]

Evelyn Ezell

Evelyn is back in the hospital, ECM room 565. She is having smoothering spells again, and gets really short of breath when she tries to do anything. They did a scan and found out the place in her lungs as grown. Don't know what they will decide to do just yet.

Doris

Doris is to have a scan on Wednesday to see how her treatments are progessing. She said she'll probably get the results Thursday. Let's keep her in prayer.

Lastest on Evelyn

Evelyn has to be at the hospital at 6:45 am in the morning. Dr. said she is third in line for her procedure, so it may be around 11:00 before he can get to her. She will have to be put to sleep for this procedure, and stay over night in the hospital. Please keep her in your prayers.

Evelyn Ezell

Evelyn has an appointment with a surgeon today (Monday). He is to go over the biopsy procedure and set up a date. It could be tomorrow, we just don't know. We are fairly sure it will not be today since her appointment isn't until 12:00. I will try to keep everyone updated on what we fine out.

News

Just an update on some of the sick and ailing, and some news about the website:

  • Evelyn will have a PET scan of her lung and possibly a biopsy next week.

  • Ruthie is in Decatur General with diverticulitis. They'll probably keep her till Monday.

  • Caleb has a broken collar bone, but is healing from his motorcycle accident.

I'm putting my powerpoint sermon slides on a website of their own. The site is http://newgeorgiapowerpoints.blogspot.com, or you can also access them from a link on this page or from a link on the http://newgeorgiachurch.com site. I'll try to keep the site current, so if you miss a sermon or would like to review it later, you'll have it.

Hi from Tampa!!!

Hi everyone! I just wanted to make a quick post to touch base with you all. I'm still in Tampa... I have a new job at a women's fitness center (hard to believe... I know.) But I really love it. I'm even considering it for a career!

Anyways... I really want you all to know how much you have been in my thoughts and prayers lately. I am so sorry for all the pain that you must be going through. If I can be of any encouragement at all, please let me know! I love you all dearly.

Love,
Sommer

A Word of Thanks

I'd like to let everyone know that I am very thankful for all the support I've received since I've started coming to New Georgia and especially since my baptism this Sunday. It is wonderful to be surrounded by so many good, faithful people. I am so glad to be part of a much larger family in Christ, now. Thank you for the kind words and gestures. I look forward to learning and growing as a Christian with all of you.

Elaine's Surgery

The surgeon took out another very large mass from her abdomen. It was like the one she had removed in February. The doctor was "amazed" that it had grown back so quickly. He's hoping to find a chemo treatment that will be more effective. Keep her in your prayers as she recovers from this operation and they try to find a good treatment for her.

Whitney

I wanted to thank those who asked about my sister Whitney. She has been having back problems and is scheduled for an x-ray today. She has had an MRI. I'm assuming the results will be in shortly. She has difficulty sitting for long periods of time. They are considering a traction treatment where they stretch you to line your vertebrae back up. :( Sounds a little like mid-evil torture to me but whatever works. In any case, maybe she will feel better soon and be back at church.

Milt Jr.

Milt is recovering in ICU at ECM after his motorcycle accident. For those who haven't heard, a dog ran out in front of him on Snake Road as he was on his way to church Wednesday. He has a broken collar bone, several broken ribs and a partially collapsed lung, along with some severe scrapes and bruises. The doctors are anticipating a recovery, but at best he'll be in quite a bit of pain for some time.

Eugene and James Cagle Family Update

Uncle Eugene has had a heart attack. He is in CCU at ECM in stable condition. His right artery was 100% blocked and his left is partially blocked. They put 3 stints in his right artery. I will update as I learn more.

Dandan (James) is probably going to get to come home tomorrow (Tuesday). I spent the night with him last night and he is gaining strength back. His blood sugar is good, as well as his BP. Dr. Schreeder, his oncologist, believes the bleeding is from the upper GI and was made worse because of his blood thinner. He does not think a colonoscopy will be necessary. He is eating solid food and has had all tubes disconnected from him! He is so glad to be able to move around freely!

Mammaw (Willa Jean) had some physical therapy this morning. She is still very weak, but is trying her best to get better. She said Saturday how much she misses her Sunday school class!

Please continue to pray for all of them.

Grandmama Elaine Update

Just thought I would post an update on Grandmama Elaine. She has received two units of blood and will have a chemotherapy treatment today. Surgery to remove the mass in her abdomen is not going to take place soon, due to her recent heart attack. The good news is that her doctor is going to allow her to come home today. We will be glad to have her back home! My mother will hopefully be bringing Grandmama and Granny (Donna Rea) home this evening. Please pray for their return as well as for Grandmama's health.
Ashley

James

Hi everyone,

Here is the latest as of 12:15 a.m. James (Dandan!) has been admitted to ICU at Huntsville Hospital. They are giving him 2 units of blood. He is bleeding in his stomach. They will run tests in the morning to find out the cause. Could be several things, but most likely an ulcer. When he arrived at the hospital his BP was 93/56 and dropped as low as 86/48. After they got his IV started, it came up to 59 on the bottom. Mom is staying there tonight and Carolyn is with Mammaw. I will try to update everyone later. Please keep him in your prayers! I am praying for Ms. Elaine as well! :)

Keith's mom is home and improving some. She is on oxygen at all times. We are keeping a close watch on her. His brother is supposed to be here Friday to help out. Please continue to pray for June and Keith. He is pretty stressed out right now since he is the only child here.

One more prayer request for me. I have iritis in my right eye. It is very painful and hard to see out of my eye. Please pray for it to heal quickly. I need to be able to help my family! Thanks! Love to all!

Gayla

I'm sure many of you already know that James and Joan's grandaughter, Gayla, passed away yesterday. Visitation will be tomorrow night at Rogersville Funeral Home, and the funeral will be Friday. When I spoke with Joan earlier today she still didn't know the time of the visitation or funeral.

And changing the subject, Grandmama Elaine will be having surgery to remove another mass in her abdomen, probably tomorrow, but we still aren't sure. Please pray for her, and please pray for strength for our mother.
